Jeff ‘the blogger MP’ Ooi
I noticed that on the day my ‘personal website’ went live – 15 April 2008, somebody else was busily writing away, trying to be as critical of me as possible! After reading his post twice (his English was way too perfect – it completely left me behind), I knew I had to respond.
In his post titled ‘See Pinned’, I admit that I had made a mistake in miscalculating how long Jeff Ooi has been blogging in cyberspace. On the April 14 edition of theSun, page 6, it was reported that I said Jeff Ooi has been only blogging since circa 2005 when in fact, Jeff Ooi said that he has been blogging since 2 January 2003. So I was ‘out’ by 2 years, big deal! Why kick up a big fuss? But if time is ‘of the essence’, then admittedly you are the “king of bloggers”, oh sorry, it shouldn’t be you right, because my friend, Oon Yeoh beat you to it.
Secondly, lets have some ethics, at least the cyberspace sort of it, if there’s any left in you. Why be petty with my name. As Dale Carnegie wrote, “The sweetest sound to any man is his own name, use it often in addressing others and you would have the world in the palm of your hands”. So YB Jeff Ooi, if staying too long in front of the computer screen allowed EMF wave to ooze your grey matters out, for your information, my name is Lim Si Pin – and not See Pinned! I’m sure if I were to ‘defame’ your name in front of ‘your mother’, Mrs. Ooi wouldn’t like it also, right? Can you imagine how my mother felt when her son’s name was ‘played’ around by you? She wasn’t very pleased!
Thirdly, Jeff Ooi write in his article, and I quote, “Perhaps one way to make this son-of-an-ex-minister is to as soon as possible, get someone to throw him a 20% shareholding in one wireless Wimax company and another 30% in another wireless Wimax company, plus perhaps a business radio license to boot, then we talk blogs.” Unquote. What is YB Jeff trying to infer? What does this have to do with me miscalculating the time (whether 3 or 5 years) you have blogged in the cyberworld. I believe either too much ‘wind’ has gone into your grey matter and made you super-egoistical since 8 March or this could be a sure sign of premature onset of Alzheimers Disease for a 52 year old from listening too much to your rumour-mongering ‘informants’ from CMC?
And lastly, you haven’t told us why after being an ordinary member of Gerakan for 7 years, you suddenly jump ship (short of six months prior to the 12th General Election, I wonder why) to the other side, and then you ‘victoriously’ became a YB. You said elsewhere in Mediacorp’s Today edition that “you were working behind the scene and also did help out in the 2004 elections”, I think this could be a typical case of gathering information (ala KGB style) on the inner workings of Gerakan before hopping to the other side. I wonder, if you were to contest in Jelutong under the banner of Gerakan on 8 March 2008, could you have won. What’s the difference, same GUY, only different banner! Apa bezanya, isi sama, hanya pembalut lain!

For 7 years while you were a member of Gerakan, did you ever voice out or ‘did’ anything about the need to change on Public Governance, fight for a corrupt free Malaysia, etc, except in your own blog. And while Gerakan Youth organised a Convention Anak Malaysia in 2005 to discuss about National Unity, (where Lim Guan Eng of DAP came and join our panel of speakers, at least he came), where were you? I didn’t see you, I should know, because I was the organiser. A Gerakan event, and you were not there. I believe you were busy blogging away and criticising the Government in your own ivory tower perhaps!

Jeff Ooi might be seen good in talking in the air, but it’s yet to see his practical performance in relation to the growth of the country.
I would suggest we stop talking about him, otherwise it will help growing him to a greater level in politic. In reality, he’s just an ordinary individual with NO special skills?!
To me, he’s just another opportunist who has NO patience and cannot grow with Gerakan gradually, but has chosen to “jump”, he might have thought he’s indispensable in Gerakan…
Some might have said Jeff Ooi is a professional blogger? but nothing proves that? He has No blogging paper-qualification to support, but has literatural and international Business papers, instead! Of course, he can be classified as a regular blogger, definitely the word “professional” is too big for him!
Yes, I agree with some comments posted herein, he’s already a YB and should have expressed his views or opinions via a proper meeting or channel, not by blogging in the air!
I would sincerely urge everyone to stop talking about this guy… and please talk more about the present active members in Gerakan.
United is Power!

Blogger or not, able to deliver or not, he is chosen by the Rakyat to speak for us, he deserve his chance to speak for the people.
I hope Barisan take the defeat by hearing the voice of the people and change their mindset, for me I hear that:
1) The rakyat wants a Government that is transparent, runs with integrity and uphold by justice
2) The rakyat wants a good Leader (who not only good in skills but also in Character) to lead the nation
3) The rakyat wants to remind BN that in a democratic country, nothing can stop the voice of the people, no matter how hard you try to filter them through media.
If BN understands and willing to bite the bullet for a change “within”, I’m sure the Rakyat will be confident towards BN again
