A Dictator and A Thief
We ‘lost’ the Batu Parliamentary seat after 24 years.
There must be some obvious person out there (or among us) who despite the explanation of the ‘leadership of the party’, still could not accept the fact that what has been a strong hold of Parti Gerakan (the constituency of Batu) for the past twenty odd years from 1986 to the present is now the ‘priced jewel’ in the hands of the “dictator of the pact”.
I’m glad somebody trumpeted the frustration that I’m feeling and it is clearly spelt out in the follwiong article:
Good luck to the ‘new’ BN Batu Division Chairman, you have just signed your own ‘Be.End’ warrant!

Si Pin, my condolences.
But this Ameno we know all along, and the reason why we cannot stand weak Gerakan CM kowtowing to them.
When “dictator” (as the current propaganda goes) LGE says he will put up multi-lingual street sign, it is DONE!
Now LGE is going after another one of his promises, that is to bring back the 3rd vote (No doubt will be blocked by Ameno, even if Gerakan is for it).
So, for all intent and purpose, DAP led Penang govt have been effective in delivering their promises.
Just like Gerakan in its heydays….. but no longer, as it is continuously been subjugated by Ameno, no doubt due to slow but surely you keep owing them favors…..
…. like accepting a backdoor Ministry….

mr lim,
please tell us why BN must give you or other gerakan people the batu chairman?
what have you done for BN in Batu?
You have lost so badly in the last general election.
Don’t blame koh tsu koon or umno or anyone else. It is you who cause Gerakan to loose Batu and BN chairman at batu.
Instead of crying like a baby here, please do some work at Batu first!!!

all of us know that the policy kills Gerakan and MCA and MIC.It is true what Si Pin said in the Sin Chew press recently. Some of the stupid policy purposely impose. i give a very good example in Ipoh. How come the local councill hanging the panel during the CNY without chinese wording and yet 70% of the population and 4 out of 5 Parlimen is MCA contested…Also happening in Jalan Petaling,K.L.,no tanglung.

No one will argue that UMNo is the taiko of Bn, power-sharing my foot! Just look at the position of Bn deputy, sec-gen etc all fr Umno except the normal practice of having component parties persident as VP. On the other hand, it is obvious Umno see Gerakan as boliau, therefore can just take you guys for granted. Unless can be proven to be really fighting a good cause for the people aggressively not mere catty or the so-called effective silent method, rakyat will never support. Issuing statement and talking in the press is sth everyone can do today. People want action. Just figure out why Gerakan?
Again conscience in Bn my foot! Maybe this is also a question of leadership. Not only seen as sissy and selfish but do not have that umph for the voter to support not to mention the personality. What a waste for the party to go down like that.

What difference does it make whether Gerakan or UMNO is the Chairman of BN Batu? You should not be concerned about losing the seat which you already lost. Try to regain the lost grounds on your own instead of putting the blame on other people. Your (and Gerakan’s) ineffectiveness in Batu had contributed to this. Thanks also to the previous Batu BN Chairman for his “enormous” contribution to Batu constituents.
Stop this wild ideas of believing that Gerakan had won the Batu seat for the past 26 years on its own strength. Without the other component parties, you will die standing. Show yourself as a team player.
I have been staying in Sentul area for the past 15 years and yet I never see your face (or even the previous MP) coming to the ground.
What you do is simply organise some functions and expect people to come and see you. Wake up Si Pin, this is 21st century. If you are not seen, then you are deemed to be invisible. Having banners and buntings with your face on it does not help.
Why can’t you just make your rounds and meet the public in an informal circumstances? Instead of going to the market, go to the residential areas. Knock on people’s door. Make your presence felt and seen. Beat the current MP in his sown game. But you are too proud. You will not stoop to that level because you are an elitist. And please improve your PR skills too. I don’t want you to stutter when bombarded with questions. Because it will be embarrassing to your supporters.
Your writing suggested that you are the type who will not admit your shortcomings but instead blame others. Grow up man. Admit your mistakes. It is the most honourable thing to do, if there is still any honour left in you.
Credit must be given to current MP Tian Chua. Even though I don’t have much respect to his gung- ho style, at least he is seen to be doing his job.
Politics is all about perception. And you had failed miserably in this.
Quit basking in your party’s past glory. You are your own man. Do you expect people to respect you and kow-tow to you just because Kheng Yaik is your dad? Wake up man. Respect must be earned!
I think it is high time you forget about Batu. Put a more suitable candidate unless you are the best Gerakan can offer. Then it is “Be End” for you and Gerakan too.
Shame on Gerakan. Even independents in Parliament had outnumbered your reps.
Your party should seriously consider leaving BN and then only we can see whether you can hack it out on your own in the real world.
Maybe you should consider sacking all your advisers too. You cannot deny that they too had contributed to your current predicament.
p/s If you decide to publish my comment, please do so in it’s entirety. Otherwise, do not bother. By the way I did not vote you in the last election.
[Limsipin writes: Since you did not write with your birth name, I have no way to reach out to you. Imagine how many people who write like you do and remain anonymous, this is a lost to the people of Batu. There's just too many ideas contained in that little piece you have written that more time should be given to having an opportunity to meet you and listen to what you have to say. The ideas are a basket of gems, they should be the basis that I can learn to be more effective in serving people like you.
As mentioned in your comments above, I have allowed your comments to be posted verbatim, as I had done so for all my visitors, except if there are personal attacks or vulgarity involved.
It's OK if you did not vote for me in GE12, at least you are honest with me, and for that I thank you for your sincerity. I hope to be able to see your face in the near future and I can be contacted at i@limsipin.com. (I will not put my handphone number here for obvious security reasons)
I'm also willing to have Chow Kuey Teow with you if you are Chinese or Putumayam if you are Indian. Two of my favourite food. And if you are one of my Malay constituents, we shall have nasi kandar or lontong but its really difficult to get good lontong in the area in Batu. Or we should have all of them because we are all Malaysians (no first, no last, ONLY Malaysians). Pls write to me via email, thanks.

Si Pin,
Ask your party president to show you the letter which I handed to him personally in April of 2008 to understand why I have such a lack of regard for your useless party!
When KTK introduced me to other Gearakan members after the tsunami then, he laughingly said that this is romerz who can’t stand the “stinky” UMNO.
He is right and in many ways, UMNO is gonna bring your party down as well but who cares when we have DAP in Penang?
Before you call me a traitor, read the letter I gave KTK first then decide if I failed your party or your party failed me!

In my humble opinion, I feel Si Pin has done a lot of good to the residents of Batu. Seriously, Si Pin, I am writing this to encourage you and your sincerity to help people. You do not get a truck load of csh from the Government to run the centre as assumed by many judging from the comments made here, and I know for a fact that you may not want people to know this, but you even dip into your personal coffer for some of your projects.
Well, ignore those comments as the grateful ones do not blog here and actually shook your hands and their grateful tears moisten your hands.
Remember the story of the little boy by the beach where a guy tried to use logic to discourage a boy deemed foolish. The reply of the boy was that it made a difference to that ONE starfish.
Concentrate on your ONE starfish a day… The journey is not ended, its just started…

lim si pin,
you write that Umno to be blame for the lost of Batu.
1) But have you ever thought you are the main cause why BN and Gerakan lost the seat in Batu?
2) You lost so bad in Batu in last GE and rejected by the people there by such a big margin (i think more than 10k voters).
3) So, do you expect BN still want to give you the chairman of Batu and risk loosing next GE again with a bigger margin?
4) Are you able to accept other gerakan leader to lead Batu instead of you?
5) Even as a gerakan youth chief, you have done nothing for your party.
6) So stop also screaming here and there and even asking Gerakan to leave BN just to protect your own interest in Batu.

Hi Marcus,
Thanks for visiting this site.
1) if you feel that I’m the main cause of why BN and Gerakan lost the Batu seat in GE2008, then who is the cause that made BN lost all 10 seats in FT? On hindsight, you know who it is.
2) To be exact, the majority lost to PKR in GE2008 is 9,455 votes. Yes, if you want to see it that way, I’ll take your explanation for it.
3) Obviously, you are talking through your nose. Because by the way you are writing this line shows that you are not at all familar with the recent developments within BN in FT.
4) I am more than happy to accept any leader that will help us win back Batu. But not through a By-Election. We must face the GE13 with the confidence that we will be able to win back the Batu seat from PKR.
5) Yes I have done nothing for the Party (that’s your perspective). But from the thousands of people I meet in the last 2 years that I have served my Party and my constituency of Batu, between my visits throughout the nation and from the feedback from my constituents who still get help from me, they have a different opinion than you do.
6) To leave or not to leave BN is not only my decision but the decision of the whole Party. If the Party decides to leave, I’m right behind them. If they dont, I’m also right behind them. You are being illogical by saying that I’m calling the Party to leave BN to protect my interest in Batu, how does that work. If my Party leaves BN, then we will loose the seat according to the BN spirit of seat sharing. In that instance, how am I able to protect my interest in Batu. Do you see the dichotomous reasoning you are putting forth?
Lastly, you are either (i) a detractor from Umno, (ii) a person who hates me within the Party and wants somebody to contest the seat in Batu so you can finish me off or (iii) that you have an intention to discredit me by saying I’ve done nothing for the Party. I find your reasonings are neither objective nor are they substantiated with facts and figures. I urge you to write with more conviction in the future.

Dear Who’s From Selangor,
I’ll give full support to Hulu Selangor and work towards the winning of the MIC Candidate.
We’ll be going up to KKB as well as Serendah to see the action on 17 Apr for the nomination and then in between the campaign.
Hope to see you there, “Someone”.
I’ve got people from various states who are now asking the National Youth to help sponsor their trip down/up to Hulu Selangor. I know the Umno boys does this, but this is Gerakan, please lah, if you want to come, come and help, but don’t ask for money, not even petrol money. Otherwise, please stay at home, we dont need sharks/crocodiles within the Party.
I have been to 3 of the last 9 by-elections and nobody pays me, if I want to make a claim, then who should I ask from. Commitment!
And by the way, I understand why you want to remain anonymous online, but pls if I were to see you on 17 Apr on the Nomination Day, come forward and show your face, I’m always glad to see another member, and I hope you are one! Thanks.

I agree with arb_ok . Even though Tian Chua is not an “ideal” MP, at least he is willing to go to the ground to help the people.
I am not saying you don’t. But you just are not the “people serving” type of politician. You gave the impression that you are just trying to follow your father footsteps because of the perks and status that comes with it.
You can rebuke and curse me that I am wrong.
Based on your the replies of the people in YOUR constituency, I think you should reconsider your ambition being an MP………
Investment bank seems good….

Hi Ahlau,
Thanks for visiting.
You are right. I’m just not cut out to be a politician. I wont curse you because you are my teacher, so in the spirit of a good student, l’ll just wait for your next instruction to learn what you have to teach me.
We cannot put up a straight face and say we are the best. Neither should we deny the rakyat their right to voice their concerns.
I’m sure what you have said have its merits, and I trust that you said it with a sincere heart.
Maybe just maybe, if more voters like you think that I should go back to the commercial world to do my own private thing, I’ll do it because the rakyat, including people like you are always right. We the politicians should opened up our ears and listen to you more!
Thanks for your advice.

Politic of consensus among BN component parties? Gerakan need to soldier on and have the courage to voice out for the people. Is Gerakan still the conscience of BN? Gerakan Youth need to organise and commitment to change the perception of the rakyat.
March on and reorganise your networking in Gerakan constituency for the coming GE 13. Gerakan still have great to gain back the confidence of the people through youth.

Dear Si Pin,
Thank you for publishing my comment and my sincere apologies for the late reply (as well) since I have given up any hope of my comments being published.
My apologies too for the rather strong words used in my earlier comment as it was written to reflect my anger upon reading your comment. I feel obligated to let you have “a piece of my mind” for refusing to blame yourself or your party for the current predicament.
I was disappointed too when you showed yourself as not being a team player by venting your frustration in public while you should know there are proper channels to do so. Such conduct will not help strengthen BN or Gerakan but would have detrimental effect to both when read by the public.
I take my hat off for your willingness to publish my comment in its entirety. While I have so much to say in so little space, the graciousness that you have displayed is clearly touching. You are definitely learning to take constructive criticisms positively.
I am not the type who make personal attacks on people or use vulgarities but I try to be as fair as possible when justifying the points raised. I trust you have realised the same.
I am more than prepared to meet you around Sentul area and hope to do so one of these days. However the only problem is time where we are both busy with our respective careers.
p/s The use of a nick is intentional. I prefer not to reveal my given name in web comments. I shall nonetheless e-mail you my full name and contact number in due course. By the way I am a Malay.

arb_ok,
if lim si pin too busy with his career and work and don’t have time to meet up with you in Sentul (that’s in Batu), then he should not even be dreaming of contesting in Batu.
I hope lim si pin can write out what he have really done in Batu (after loosing in last GE by almost 10,000 votes).
I really hope Gerakan can still contest in Batu but they must choose a good candidate.
p/s: there is a lot of other good candidate in Gerakan from KLFT.

Dear arb_ok,
The first thing that strikes me about you is that, you are really good in written english, clear and succint. Hard to find such contemporaries in my circle of Malay friends nowadays. Your English teacher should be proud of you.
You are right in that, its so hard to put everything you want to say in such short a paragraph, better to have the opportunity to meet up and spend a couple of hours chit chatting and thinking through the political predicaments we are facing today.
I await your email in due time. If you find weekdays is rather a rush for both of us, can we do it during the weekend, that way, we can stretch the hour if need be.
As to Someone From Selangor:
Do I detect some bitterness or frustration in the way you have written both of your comments above. There’s no point in putting me down in any condescending way or otherwise. This is an open forum, just say what you have to say in a nice way and both readers of this website and I will take your advice, otherwise, who likes to be spoke down upon.
Since you are a great supporter of arb_ok, then when Encik arb_ok replies me in an upcoming email, I’d like to extend an invitation for you to join us for the 3 heads teh-tarik discussion.
Please write to me at i@limsipin.com so that I can arrange for that when the date is set, thank you.
And you are right in that, there are plenty of capable candidates from KLFT to take over the candidacy of Batu. Take for example the Chairman of Gerakan KLFT, he is more than capable, in fact at this point in time, he should be our best hope to wrestle back Batu from PKR, what do you think?

I replied you on 28 Apr 2010 for a date to meet you, I’m still waiting for your contact info, so we can meet. Can you please write soon, it’s going to be a week already. Again this is my email i@limsipin.com
And for Someone From Selangor:
I’m not as busy as you write above. I too am waiting for your contact info so that when arb_ok replies me, I want you to be with us for that chit chat. So that nobody should be a hero at condemning but when it comes to contributing, all they know is to stand at the weyside and bark!
I know you are not the type that will bark and do nothing, do you? So please write soon so I can coordinate the meeting up of minds.
