Looking back, 2008 was really what everybody will concur as ‘Annualis Horribilis’. 2 major disasters happened to 2 of our neighbouring countries – Burma and China. Hundreds of thousands died in the ensuing earthquake and not much could be done as we watch helplessly on CNN/BBC.

Happy Ponggal!
Many of my Indian friends celebrated Ponggal in Batu yesterday. Some went out very early in the morning to secure pots of milk, some went to get stalks of sugar cane while others scramble for mango or banana leaves for small ceremony either in their homes or the nearby temple.

I read Citizen Nades comments in theSun a couple of days ago, and what he rightly pointed out is so true.
