Secondly, well written reply. I’m glad that Gerakan is getting the message from the voters, specifically Penangite’s.

Indeed, if what LGE revealed regarding only getting less than 10% of Penang revenue back to the state is true, we should all work hand-in-hand to get back what is rightfully Penangites.

Penang already had very little resources compared to other states, it is the revenue generated from the existing business that we need to use to develop this state.

It makes me sad whenever I travel down to KL to compare the almost obscene rate of development there (no doubt with tax payers money), as compared to the slow pace here in Penang, as rightfully pointed out by LKY.

Not to say that we want KL style of development, but rather one that is more balance with nature, more fitting with our prominence as an island.

Not the mention the on-off-on-off LRT project for Penang. Been talking for decades, and nothing to show. While Shenzhen not only talk, but keeps expanding its Metro network. Public transport is one MUST for Penang to resolve the worsening traffic congestion and pollution.

I would suspect Gerakan already knows most of what Penangites wants, however, whether you guys can make a difference within BN or not, well… you already have many decades to proof that you can… how r you going to convince the voters to give you a 2nd chance ?

First off, Umno has been eyeing for the Penang CMship for a very very long time. But they cant get their hands on that ‘precious jewel’ because Penangites have been ‘giving’ Penang Gerakan the ‘Goodwill’ and ‘benefit-of-the-doubt’ for so long that Penang Gerakan thought that it was their birth right.

Came 308, and everything is now clear. The power to decide who is the Govt and who is not, rest ultimately in the hands of the voters. Nobody has any god-given right to anything, except air and your life.

We in Gerakan have to realise that, the more we get in our own way, the longer it takes for us to get back on our own two feet or for us to become the ‘party of choice’ for the masses.

Voters and the rakyat are not stupid. The more they see us infighting among ourselves, the more they realise that 40 years of Gerakan rule is ENOUGH. Some say we have been under the shadow of UMNO for too long that we have forgotten our own soul.

My take is, if UMNO wants the State BN Chairmanship, let them have it. But the voters of Penang will not like it. For they know that UMNO truly wants to take over the only remaining CMship which is not under their control (Sabah is already gone, and Sarawak is just a matter of time).

This means that we, Gerakan, is now in a fix. The more UMNO sings that tune, the more the rakyat will continue to support DAP and LGE’s administration, whatever shortcomings he has.

And the more we continue to hold on to something that is meaningless, the more we spiral down to oblivion.

I surely hope that we (secara amnya Gerakan Nasional dan secara khasnya Gerakan Pulau Pinang) return to our original purpose (1968) of finding a solution to the Penangites’ suffering. Not for the sake of getting the CMship back, but for the sake of all Penang people for a start.

Governance is a delicate thing, if we have forgotten how to be compassionate with the people of Penang, what right do we have to be given the chance to govern again.

If my colleagues in Penang reads this, they will not like a single word that I have uttered here. But up against all of my conscience, I cannot say anything otherwise. My Party’s survival is now at stake and if we the next echelon cannot think strategically as well as wisely, we will have no future at all in the political arena.

PM Najib has put a gag order on his men to stop talking about Penang BN Chairmanship. So Ahmad Zahid has no choice but to get a marksman (枪手) to aim their ammunition at us, what better than to use the ultra-malay paper of Utusan, and to top up the mystique, nobody is the best than to use a chinese convert.

But instead of just brushing away what Ridhuan has to say, lets look in the mirror and ask ourselves, is there any truth in what he has said, are we really “kiasu”?
